Abstract Mechanical shift of windings is serious problem power transformers which belong to the very significant components engineering system. displacements and following insulation failure due short circuit inrush currents can lead an emergency situation. That’s why effective control technology relevant task a current engineering. A new approach winding state described in paper. The based on nanosecond probing impulse duration with (no more than 20 ns) rapidness front impulse. experimental results sensitivity growth at decreasing pulse are shown. equipment research described. It established that has optimum value around 100ns. shown it possible do condition under operating voltage. both shorter probe allows upgrading common effectiveness diagnostic technology.
